The main tasks that an Au Pair will be expected to complete are:

Wake up the children, and make sure that they are prepared to start the day. This may include helping them to get dressed, preparing their breakfast, tidying their rooms (and the kitchen after breakfast), and taking them to school

Pick up the children from school and spend the afternoon with them. You may have to help them with their homework, take them to any after-school activities, play games with them and entertain them until dinner time.

Bathe the children, prepare their dinner, and put them to bed. You may also wish to tell them a bedtime story, like any good older sibling would.

Complete any simple domestic chores related to the children. This may include preparing simple meals, tidying the children's rooms, tidying the kitchen if you have used it, putting on and emptying the dishwasher, doing the hoovering, washing and ironing the children´s clothes etc

Be available to take care of the children in the case of illness, or during the school holidays

Be available to work 30 hours per week (either 5 hours per day if you work 6 days a week, or 6 hours a day if you work 5 days a week)

Be available to babysit the children once or twice a week. Normally this would be a weekday night when the parents want to go out for the evening.

Complete the aforementioned tasks with a responsible, respectful, and caring attitude
You will have sufficient free time to go to your language classes, and to socialise with friends.
All of these tasks will be completed either in your native language, or, if you are bilingual, in the language that the family have chosen for you to speak with the children. You will be able to practice the language of your host country when talking with the parents.
The Au Pair´s tasks will always be related to the children. You will be considered as another member of the family, and all of the tasks that you will be required to complete will be detailed in the contract between you and the family. The children's well-being will ultimately always be the parent´s responsibility and not the Au Pair´s.
The Au Pair must promise to make the effort to adapt to family life and to the customs of your host country. This will include adapting to the family´s daily timetable, and to the type of food that they eat. You will be expected to return to the house at a reasonable time every night, and you must not spend the entire night outside of the house unless this has been previously agreed with the family. You must keep your room clean and tidy, and use the appliances and furniture in the house with due care and diligence.

Entre las principales tareas que debe realizar una Au Pair entran:
• Realizar las tareas que le competen siempre con actitud responsable, respetuosa y cariñosa
• Despertar a los niños y asegurar que estén preparados para comenzar el día: ayudarles a vestirse o vestirlos si es necesario, preparar el desayuno, dejar la cocina y sus habitaciones recogidas y llevarlos al colegio
• Recogerlos del colegio y pasar la tarde con ellos realizando las actividades del día a día como llevarlos a actividades extraescolares, hacer deberes, jugar con ellos y entretenerlos hasta la hora del baño y la cena. Bañarlos y preparar la cena así como llevarlos a la cama y como también haría una buena hermana mayor, contarle algún cuento antes de ir a dormir
• Hacer tareas domésticas ligeras habituales y relacionadas con los niños como preparar comidas ligeras (normalmente las cenas) recoger las habitaciones de los niños y la cocina una vez utilizada, recoger el lavavajillas y si así lo requiere la familia, pasar la aspiradora, hacer la colada y plancha de los niños, etc...
• Disponibilidad en el caso de enfermedad o vacaciones escolares.
• Trabajo semanal de 30 hrs. 5 hrs diarias si trabaja 6 días en semana y 6 hrs diarias si trabaja 5 días en semana
• Babysitting 1-2 veces en semana. Normalmente los viernes y otro día entre semana
• Dispondrás de tiempo suficiente para asistir a tus clases de idioma, para socializarte y salir, ir de compras y ver a tus amigos.
Todas estas actividades se realizarán en tu idioma materno o en caso de ser bilingüe en el idioma que haya elegido la familia, dejándole la oportunidad al/la Au-Pair de poder practicar el idioma del país de acogida.
Las obligaciones de la Au Pair están siempre relacionadas con los niños. Te integrarás en la familia como un miembro más y realizaras las tareas incluidas en el Programas Au-Pair acordado con la familia. La responsabilidad del bienestar de los niños siempre recaerá sobre los padres y no sobre el/la Au-Pair.
La Au-Pair se compromete a esforzarse en adaptarse a las costumbres españolas y familiares en cuanto a horarios, comidas… etc., a regresar a casa por las noches a horas razonables, previamente acordadas, y nunca pasar la noche entera fuera de casa sin pedir permiso previo. En cualquier caso, mantendrá limpia y ordenada su habitación y usará las instalaciones de la casa con diligencia.
